Join Clayton Haslop, critically acclaimed solo violinist and film recording artist, as he performs a selection of the greatest works composed for the violin over the past three centuries. From the first tones of Francesco Geminiani’s baroque masterpiece, right through to the pyro-technical thrillers by Nicolo Paganini and the heart warming timeless classics of Fritz Kreisler, Dvorak, Beethoven and Bach, you will be transported, transfixed, and moved in ways that defy words.
Dear Friend,
You’ve heard my playing on over 1100 major motion picture releases, often as concertmaster and solo violinist. Now you have an opportunity to hear me play the music I love best. What better way than by listening to the most sublime music written for the violin played by a master musician who has devoted a lifetime to its beauty?
This is a recital of extraordinary power, grace, and beauty. And it takes place on the beautiful Biltmore Estate, home of the Vanderbilts.
The Nobility, Passion, and Soul-Stirring Power
of the Violin
I begin with an Italian sonata from the 18th century. This jewel of a composition literally brought me to tears when my last teacher, legendary violinist Nathan Milstein, played it in Los Angeles in 1982. Following this you’ll hear the grand and passionate “Kreutzer Sonata” of Ludwig Van Beethoven; a towering tour de force for both piano and violin that clearly established Beethoven’s reputation as a ‘Romantic’ composer.
Concluding the first half of the program, the remarkable D Minor Partita for Violin – unaccompanied – by Johann Sebastian Bach. I cannot say enough about this work. But to give you some idea of its place in music history, let me say that no less than Dr. Albert Schweitzer, Nobel peace prize laureate, humanitarian, theologian, organist, and author, considered Bach’s writing in this work superior to ALL his other instrumental writing.
Finally, the second half of the recital will feature an abundance of musical ‘bon-bons’ from such loved composers as Fritz Kreisler, Antonin Dvorak, Manuel de Falla, and Nicolo Paganini.
So don’t delay, ‘seating’ for this event is VERY limited. You can enjoy this 2 DVD concert in the comfort of your home. Plus, if you order now I will include a FREE DVD of a charming children’s concert I first gave at the Vermont Mozart Festival.
